On Friday, December 18th at 10:00 AM TRMC held a press conference to talk about the new COVID-19 vaccine and general updates regarding the coronavirus.
“Our hospital staff members have worked for nine months without many breaks and are tired” said Karen Grochowski.
- .This week, Alabama’s COVID-19 hospitalization rate is at an all-time high with 4,600 new positive cases reported with over 2,400 of those being admitted to hospitals.
- In the southwest region, where TRMC resides, there are 12 total ICU beds available and there are only 132 ICU beds in the whole state of Alabama that are available. The probability of being placed in hospitals out of state if you contract COVID-19 is very high.
- We need to continue to to wash our hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, wear our face coverings properly, covering mouth and nose, and socially distance ourselves of at least 6 feet for less than 15 minutes.
- Dr. Dozier added that while we’re starting to get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel with the introduction of the new vaccines, it will be several months before vaccines are available for the general public.
If you are experiencing fever, body aches, cough, or shortness of breath and would like to be seen by our ER please call 334-456-6452 when you arrive at TRMC. Please remain in your car and a Nurse will come to you. We will have an ER doctor perform a medical screen if necessary. Please do not enter the building until after a nurse has seen you.
